Crowns and Bridges

Our goal in restoring your teeth is to do dentistry that is undetectable. We do crowns and restorations that look and feel like your natural teeth. Where damage to a persons tooth is extreme and beyond repair we use porcelain crowns or porcelain fused to metal crowns to revive their appearance and function.

CrownsAndBridges

Indications of crowns:

  • Previously filled tooth where there is more filling material than tooth structure. The existing tooth structure becomes weak and no longer can support the large filling. As a preventative measure we crown the teeth so that we avoid future fractures to the tooth, which can lead to loss of the tooth.
  • Extensive destruction of the tooth structure due to decay
  • Fracture of a the tooth
  • A tooth that has had a Root Canal becomes brittle, due to loss of their nutrition from the nerve, and is more prone to fracture. Therefore these teeth need to be protected by a crown.
  • Discoloration of teeth which compromise esthetics. Crowns can be made to mimic natural teeth.

Indications of bridges:

Bridges are made to replace one or more missing teeth. They require the adjacent natural teeth to support the missing teeth. Bridges are permanently cemented on the teeth adjacent to the missing teeth. They look and feel natural. They allow you to chew foods, speak properly and restore the original appearance of your lost teeth.

Bridges are made in all porcelain, used for your front teeth where esthetic results are needed. Bridges can also be made of a gold alloy frame hidden by porcelain which gives us both the strength needed in the back chewing teeth, and at the same time offers the patient the natural look of their original teeth.
