Your First Visit

Your first visit to Shoreline Family Dental Group establishes a vital foundation for our relationship with you. During the first visit (initial examination), we make sure to obtain important background information, like your medical history, and give you time to get to know your doctor.  During your dental examination we determine any potential problems, perform a periodontal (gum disease) screening and do an oral cancer evaluation.

We believe that a dentist and patient become a team for treating an individual’s dental needs. Our dentists spend time listening to your concerns and responding with the best treatment options for you. With the help of our professional staff, they also follow up to make sure that general pain is relieved, problems are resolved and your health improves.

At our office, patients are never pressured to accept treatment.  Our goal is to inform you about your dental needs, offer you treatment possibilities, and help you make a wise decision about your treatment that fits into your financial budget.

Your initial exam and consultation appointments (for adult patients) typically require 30 minutes of time.  Some new patients are surprised that we don’t typically perform a cleaning on the first visit, but we feel it’s important to evaluate your situation first, which helps build a better roadmap for care over time.  (A separate appointment is not necessary for children’s initial examinations).

We accept new patients of all ages. Our patients come to us from all different backgrounds, expectations and priorities, and we try hard to provide them with service that makes them most comfortable. To schedule your first appointment, please request an appointment  online or call our office at 616-399-9520.
